Kiwake: smart alarm clock App Reviews

Effective

The steps are effective and I havent experienced any of the issues or bugs.

Unreliable/buggy

Update: crashing in the middle of wake up process. Have to uninstall. As the other reviewers say, great concept but much room for improvement. Today the alarm went off while I was presenting publicly. I had to delete the app to turn it off. This is strange because I woke up hours earlier thanks to the alarm and completed the exercises. Itd be great if there was a way to save a profile so that when I reinstall the app I dont have to set up everything anew. Also, would be nice if theres a way to quickly skip the Intro tutorial which requires way too many taps. I think the interface would work a lot better, and would help people avoid problems, if it was set up in such a way that one alarm is chosen every night. The scheduled alarms can get a little messy and its hard to keep track.

Love the app, but it does crash!

I couldnt wait to start using this app and for the first day it worked great! I got up on time and went through the wake up sequence so I was fully awake. I set it the next day without thinking about a backup alarm. It didnt go off the next morning and said I overslept!! I have been setting a backup alarm and that seems to be helping.

Love it!

It is the only thing that helps me wake up! Much better than the glitchy "step out" app

Works great!

The app is definitely doing what it is designed to do. Im getting out of bed so much easier than I did before, which is great. It is annoying when you cant snooze, but...I guess thats the whole point. It has been really helpful for me.

Does the job

Ive been wanting to wake up early for years. Nothing has worked. This is the first alarm clock to get me up. Ive been using it for a month now, and I havent experienced any of the bugs or crashes I saw mentioned in the reviews. Yes, there are some upgrades it could use, but this night owl is waking up so complaints.

Great idea, poor execution

My number one problem with this app: You have to "activate night mode" before you go to bed or it wont go off. "Night mode" seems to be like the do not disturb feature, where you cant do anything else on your phone after you activate it. Forgot to do so last night and woke up this morning (to my husbands alarm) to see about a hundred (silent) notifications on my phone. Terrible that the design hinges on the users remembering to do that, even after theyve gone through all the steps of dictating when the alarm should go off, on what days, etc., every single time they want to use it.

Ugh i hate you but I love you

I never write apps but I felt the need to give kiwake 5 stars. Since I started working full time Ive become a snooze button addict. Im a girl who actually needs a lot of time in the morning for hair and makeup but I would never allow myself enough time because Id snooze for over an hour.. Then comes kiwake.. It really does wake you up and theyre is absolute no way to deactivate it other than doing what it wants from you. I find my preferred method is a one minute cool down (it goes by so quick..) followed by the body wake up the the kind game (tmi warning- usually done on the toilet while I pee

Dont waste your money

While the concept of this app is great, it doesnt work as described. The alarm doesnt go off like a normal alarm, but rather just vibrates until you touch the notification. Once you do that, the alarm sounds....how does that make sense?? Then you have to press a button to get started on the activities....in my opinion, they should just start automatically once you open the app. Again, the concept is great but it definitely needs some tweaking.

Good. But doesnt always work

I would have a backup alarm. It doesnt always go off. Im not a heavy sleeper and there are times the alarm didnt even sound.

It Made Me Stop Snoozing

This app really wakes you up! It sometimes has a few bugs, though. One morning I slept straight through it, and I swear the alarm didnt play, despite me turning the volume up the night before. I now set a back-up alarm on my iPhone, but havent needed it since. Its a great app for forcing you to wake up, something I really needed. Definitely worth a try!

Alarm did not go off

Complicated to set up in the first place, I still had high hopes for this app but I tried it twice and both times the alarm didnt go off.. Yes I activated Night Mode, kept the app running and locked my phone. Both times the alarm didnt go off until I unlocked my phone and then the app told me I overslept. I dont trust it!

Some bugs

I have seen a major improvement in my mornings with this app. The idea behind it is fantastic. It does have a couple bugs or things that are not as user friendly as they could be. The most notable is that the same game always plays even after selecting all the options for games. It is annoying but the app still works better than any other alarm app out there. I particularly like that if you set it to night mode, you can do other things in your phone and it is still going to go off.

Works well but DRAINS battery

I love this app and I know that it really has helped me wake up every morning...but my phone shouldnt be at 50% at 9 am. When I get in to my car which supports Bluetooth and connects automatically, every morning I jump in my car it looks as if its calling my phone? Once I close out of the app it stops immediately... What is it monitoring while I sleep? Is this what drains my battery. Would love for it to not take up that much space for something I need to simply wake me up.

No sound

This worked twice and on the third day there was no alarm. No sound just vibrate. I slept through it. Terrible. Missed a meeting. Why?! Like the idea. Hate that this didnt work.

I never review, but Kiwake deserves it.

I love (hate) this app. I have never been able to break out of my snooze habit, but Kiwake really works. Ive had more pleasant mornings (think less rushing and less stress during my commute) because Im actually getting out of bed when I should be, rather than hitting snooze or playing around on social media while avoiding getting up and starting my day. I also think that because of my lack of snooze-buttoning that I actually have a little more energy during the day as well. As much as I hate being forced out of bed, as soon as Im up, Im singing this apps praises. Now if only they could invent one that could keep me out of the fridge at night...

Challenge Accepted!

Great App!! Suggestions/Ideas: Would like random picture selection for body mode like brain and motivation have. Also, more wake up songs to choose from. If I use the same one for more than a few days, my brain automatically tunes it out. Would like integration within the app to see how friends and family are doing with their challenge. Maybe an option built in that alerts you if they snooze and allows you to text them to hold them accountable. Thanks for the effort and time you took to create something this "alarm hacker proof." I actually get up with this one - and being an adult with extreme, clinical ADD , I am very grateful for this resource! Keep up the good work!!

Unreliable! Please Fix!

The concept of this alarm is great if they fix some MAJOR issues. Until they do, dont waste your money. For one they HAVE to figure out how to get the alarm to ring if the phone is on silent!! Every other alarm app can do this! You are supposed to put the app in "Night Mode", a button you start after setting your alarm time (which I did) but then I read my book in my kindle app and I guess that deactivated it?! So this morning I woke up and hour and a half late!! An alarm is useless if it is SILENT! Usually I would have a backup alarm, (which I had last week when this exact same thing happened) but really what is the point of a great alarm app if you need a backup?! So after I woke myself up today I had an annoying pop up that tells me my alarm is going off in Kiwake (no sound), when I pressed it took me to the app and nothing happened, it just came back on my screen every 30 seconds until I had to completely delete my preset alarm! When the alarm does work the concept is great. Having to get out of bed to take a picture or read a barcode as a first step really forces you to start waking up. The problem here is that unless the picture and barcode reader are under EXACTLY the same light they will refuse to read properly and instead of waking up in a good mood you will wake up frustrated and angry... Not a good start! I had to DELETE the app completely earlier this week just to get the thing to stop! So be careful what your picture looks like and what light it is under! I know the cost of the app isnt huge but I am wishing I saved my money here. I just cannot have an app that will wake me up sometimes! I need an alarm that is reliable! PLEASE fix this!

Great Idea, but Needs Improvement

I want to love this app, but its too buggy & inconsistent; I feel I need to set my regular alarm with it in case it doesnt work or the "Night Mode" setting doesnt work (this happened today). Ive found photo recognition to be poor/slow, even for barcodes. Ive found in my morning haze, some games are near impossible, some are so easy its stupid. Drop Tile on max speed is impossible, iPhone 6 cant register my taps fast enough (no screen protector etc). If bugs are fixed, Ill love this app, but a paid app this buggy just doesnt work in my book -- unless you also use another alarm as backup.

Saved my life

This is like the most annoying parent on the day of your finals and it has totally changed my life.
